Jehoshaphat, son of king Asa was the 4th king of Judah the divided kingdom after the days of king Solomon.  

God has spoken to us through the life of Jehoshaphat:

- God has spoke to us saying that we can't compromise in our marriage relationship by marrying an unbeliever.  Because probability of we losing our faith in God is much higher than leading him or her to Christ
- God has spoken to us saying that we can't compromise in our social relationship.  Even if we make such social relationships, we need to stay on top of the purpose with the only intention of leading people to faith in Christ.  Not to be entertained by their ungodly events, friendships and fellowships

The life of Jehoshaphat is a good example of a believer who would like to live Godly.   Many times we are very careful in our living not to allow sin in our lives and displease the Lord.  When everything is going on well in our lives suddenly in one area of our life we compromise with the world and bring disgrace to the Lord.  We are going to talk about four such areas from the life of king Jehoshaphat.

The devil just like Pharaoh is often relentless and is willing to compromise.

He says, It doesn't matter where you worship, it doesn't matter which God you server, its all the same, people serve God in different ways.  He makes us to compromise with the place of worship.

It doesn't matter if you don't be baptized, it doesn't matter even if you don’t receive the anointing of the Holy Spirit, it doesn't  matter even if you don't speak in tongues, you can go to heaven. He makes us to compromise with the spiritual things of God.

Someone said that the church will continue to compromise with the world.  Compromise is slowly growing with the churches. We failed to make young Christians our priority. We think we are addressing the need of young people.  But try removing the fun out of the church today. That will tell how many of the youth and young adults will come to the church as they really love to study and follow the scripture.

- A church that has compromised appears to be a church, but God had already left the church
- A church that has compromised with the world, still continues with all its activities, but Spirit of God had already left the church
- A church that has compromised with the world still operates, not by men and women who are anointed by God, but by the agents of Satan
- Miracles and healing may take place in a church that is compromised with the world, not by the power of God, but by the power of Satan.

Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth.

Roman governors had authority to execute people.  But here Christ tells the church, if you don’t cleanup the mess I will come to execute judgment.

- Ezra was a man who studied, followed and taught the word of God
- Ezra knew the power of fasting
- Ezra didn't go along with the majority
- Ezra was model leader who humbled himself and confessed to the Lord and people followed.
- Ezra preached about separation.

 

 

Corruption came into the church or church started compromising with its surroundings in the very early age.

- Jesus in His teachings and Paul in his writings warned about this
- John writes about it in the book of Revelation as he address to the church of Paramus, a compromised church
- History record this as Constantine married the church to the world
- Today you and I witness that the  compromises deceived many churches

- Cyrus honored God
- He consecrated the holy articles and designated them for God
- Cyrus gave to God
- Cyrus was just a tool, you and I need to be much more than that.

- David's longing for the temple of God
- David's desire to build a temple for God
- David's attitude towards God's temple
- How David prepared his son
- He reinforced the law of God
- He encouraged and motivated Solomon
- He gathered building materials for his son
- He asked others to help Solomon

- Zerubabel was a man encouraged by God's Words
- Zerubbabel was a man who was not depending on his own might and power, but was on the Spirit of God
- Zerubbabel was a man whom God given honor and authority

Today we need to realize that God has given us the signet ring, His power and authority as He has sealed us with the Holy Spirit.

- Power to do the work of God.
- Power to overcome the obstacles in Jesus name
- Power to fight with the principalities and powers of darkness
- Power to bind the strong man first to plunder the souls
- Power to break the yoke of the enemy
