Church | Authority of the Church

Remember we are dealing with the power of darkness.  Satan and his company.  He has power.  His power is nothing in front of God.  But as a human, he can overpower us if we are not prepared. 

Jesus, before His crucifixion realized the importance of laying the foundation for the church.  He visualized church among His disciples.  He called His disciples and gave them authority.

Luke 9:1 Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

I believe the same authority Jesus gave to the disciples, He has given to the church. 

Then He expanded the church by adding another seventy to the disciples.  And He gave them authority. 

 

Luke 10:18-19 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

I believe the same authority Jesus gave to the seventy, He has given to the church. 

- Authority over demons
- Authority over sicknessness
- Authority to trample on serpents & scorpions
- And over all the power of the enemy
