Characteristics of the Early Church | A Sharing Church

Characteristics of the Early Church | A Sharing Church

May 5, 2019

We read in Acts 2:44-45, Acts 4:32: The early church was a sharing church.  They enjoyed everything in common.

You may say that how was it possible not to own anything, instead selling all their property and sharing with other?  But the Bible says, that’s how it happened in the early church.

You may say that the church can be a learning church, it can be a united church and even we can stay in prayer and fasting so that miracles can happen.  But how do you expect us to sell all that we possess and distribute it to everyone?  Today people are willing to write the will on their property once they know they are going to die, not when they are alive. Characteristics of the Early Church | A Giving Church

Characteristics of the Early Church | A Giving Church

May 5, 2019

The early church was a giving church.

- No one asked them to give (spontaneous giving)
- They got the revelation of giving and God blessed those who obeyed.(revelation driven giving)
- Giving increased their bank balance in the heaven. (eternal giving)

We can't take the money or cheque to heaven, but we can start depositing in heaven by giving to God.  If any of us feel that we don't give enough to God, you should start giving to God. Read the rest of this entry »

Characteristics of the Early Church | A God Fearing Church

Characteristics of the Early Church | A God Fearing Church

So we cannot expect faith in God to bring the fear of God.  What brings fear of God to this faithless generation?  It is the supernatural power of God.

The early church was a God fearing church and the fear of God came upon the church as the believers started seeing supernatural things by the hands of the apostles.  Read the rest of this entry »

Characteristics of the Early Church | A Growing Church

Characteristics of the Early Church | A Growing Church

May 5, 2019

The early church was a growing church.

- The growth of a church can't be just measured by the number of people attending the church.
- The growth of a church can't be measured by the size of the building.
- The growth of a church can't be measured by looking at the balance sheet or the income it is capable of generating.
- The growth of a church can't be measured by knowing how much they spend out for the community development program, it need not be a church to do so. Read the rest of this entry »

Church | Two are Better than One

Church | Two are Better than One

April 23, 2019

There are four major aspects where God wants the church to be together:

- In God's work
- In our fall or failures
- In our discouragements
- When we are attacked

Snow flakes are very frail little things, but if you get enough of them together, they can strop traffic. This is the power of unity. Read the rest of this entry »

Church | One but Many

Church | One but Many

April 23, 2019

Many times non-Christians ask us about how we have one Bible, one God but why are there different churches, ministries and denomination? We need to understand the diversity the Word of God is talking about.

1 Corinthians 12 in a description of the church as the body of Christ:

- Verses 4 to 13: One Body
- Verses 14 to 20: Many Members
- Verse 21: Inter-dependency (we need each other)

Church | Christ and the Church

Church | Christ and the Church

April 23, 2019

The term Church was first introduced in the Bible by our Lord Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

The word 'church' in the New Testament is translated from the Greek word 'ekklesia' which comes from two words 'ek' meaning 'out' and 'kaleo' meaning to 'call.' An ekklesia means "called out". Read the rest of this entry »
